The Wasteland is a dangerous place, and even those who know it well are not immune to misfortune. These two lost adventurers have been spotted by a gunship with no factional insignia. Does this mean their trials are over – or have they only just begun?

I dont know why, every time I see this piece I get a fallout 3 vibe. reminds me of a vertibird, wait...is there a chance thats an unmarked enclave gunship?? definitely make this into a story, this little twist would make a it a must read for me.

I've never played any Fallout games, but I keep being told I should. Some of my work, including this image, has been featured in a Fallout-inspired card game.

This gunship combines traits of the V-22 Osprey and Mi-24, two heavy VTOL aircraft. From what I've seen of the Vertibird, it's a futuristic tiltrotor. The concept seems to have started with the P.1003 Weserflug [link] and while it presents challenges we'll probably see more of it.

That's the slant I'd take if I used this for a longer story - this scene would mark the end of one part and the beginning of another!

I love this, but then I've always been a sucker for post apoc type artwork.

This is a tiltrotor gunship that works on the same principle as the Bell Osprey. In VTOL or slow flight mode the engines are tilted upwards, and tipping the nose down provides forward speed (as with most helicopters). For higher speeds the engines tilt forwards and the wings provide the lift.
