Ossified Scryer by jflaxman Ossified Scryer by jflaxman
Divination is traditionally practised indoors through a stable medium, but the Scryers of Sholula favour solitary journeys on the half-forgotten roads that cross the barren Outer Realm. Their adepts have replaced their legs with arcane wheeled devices that better measure distance travelled, and the distinctive masks they wear, which merge with their flesh over time, help them envision possible futures through the swirling mists that lie ahead.

I'm a big Clive Barker fan, so it's probably not surprising!

the creation of personalized [new] mythology is something I am keenly interested in, and I like yours VERY MUCH.. the histories behind the characters bring so much life to them AND to the worlds they come from. niceness:)

I love the concept of people on wheels. I first saw it in "Wizard of Oz" 2 (it was probably called something different, though), where the people went about with wheels for feet.

This is so impressive!!

You'd be thinking of the Wheelers in "Return to Oz." That flick was too dark for a friend who liked the original but I didn't mind it myself.

That's right - that's what the movie was, and it was good, but too dark? A "Wizard of Oz" movie???? Oh, please!! You'll be telling me that "Never Ending Story" was too frightening for your friend, next. :D

It's definitely more upbeat than most of my occult creatures. I like the traveller/wanderer theme and have used it many times before.

I'm sorry but the wheeled device that helps them measure distances makes me think of surveyors that walk about on the side walks.
Great work on the mask, man and I especially love the detail of his crotch tube. I guess I just appreciate that you thought of that. Ha ha.
